It will increase countries\u2019 energy security through reliance on an indigenous, inexhaustible and mostly import-independent resource, enhance sustainability, reduce pollution, lower the costs of mitigating global warming, and keep fossil fuel prices lower than otherwise. These advantages are global. Hence the additional costs of the incentives for early deployment should be considered learning investments for future generations.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column In low geographical latitudes (below 40\u00a0degrees) from 60 to 70% of the domestic hot water use with temperatures up to 60\u00a0\u00b0C can be provided by solar heating systems.\u00a0The most common types of solar water heaters are evacuated tube collectors (44%) and glazed flat plate collectors (34%) generally used for domestic hot water; and unglazed plastic collectors (21%) used mainly to heat swimming pools.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tab\">Cooling and Ventilation<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-3962\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-3962\"><p>In the United States, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems account for 30% (4.65\u00a0EJ\/yr) of the energy used in commercial buildings and nearly 50% (10.1\u00a0EJ\/yr) of the energy used in residential buildings.\u00a0Solar heating, cooling and ventilation technologies can be used to offset a portion of this energy.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"tab\">Cooking<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-3963\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-3963\"><p>Solar cookers use sunlight for cooking, drying and pasteurization.
